on the new military training centres in Canada article Military training centres are being set up in Canada.
The Canadian military says it has set up nine training centres for soldiers, sailors and airmen, and the first is in Kingston, Ont.
Canadian Forces Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Jonathan Vance told reporters Thursday that the centres are part of a broader effort to increase the number of Canadians who are available to fight in the fight against terrorism.
Vance said the Canadian military will be providing a new, more modern training base to train Canadian Forces soldiers, reservists and aircrews.
“The Canadian Forces will be building a modern, safe, and effective training facility for our troops and the Canadian Armed Forces to train and equip their military,” Vance said in a statement.
Canada’s new military base will be a joint-forces centre, which is in contrast to the current military training centre in Kuwait.
Earlier this week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters the country will soon start accepting applications for the new training centre, adding that he hopes it will help train thousands of Canadian troops.
Trump announced last week that Canada will be the new host for the US-led training centre at a ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House.
This new training facility will have a capacity of about 4,500 Canadian soldiers.
Last year, the US announced it would build a new military academy in Toronto, Ont., and a similar facility is in the works in Quebec City, Que.
